Children's Village provides a safe and nurturing environment to children who have been removed from their homes by the Department of Child Safety due to situations of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or untreated mental illness in their home. The children's length of stay is dependent on their situation and can range in time from one day to several years.
Currently, Children's Village is able to accommodate up to 53 children in their ten (10) licensed group homes. The children range in ages from 1-17 and are from all ethnic backgrounds. Often the children come with special needs. The Children's Village's specialized setting allows for the care of large sibling groups. This is unique and beneficial for the children because it helps keep the family unit together while waiting for reunification.
The focus and mission of the Children's Village is to provide the support and attention needed during the stressful time in these children's lives. The support includes medical assistance, behavioral therapy, tutoring services, focused nutrition, hygiene products, and clothing. When a child leaves Children's Village, they take all of the items that they received during their stay with them including clothing, toys, and hygiene products.
