The Learning Center provides after school support and tutoring services to the foster children residing at the Children's Village. The Center is located on the same campus as the Children's Village, giving the children safe and easy access to enhance their education levels. The goal of the Center is to increase motivation, provide tutoring and instruction, and allow for additional practice time for the children in hopes of bettering their academic achievement.
The Learning Center was opened in August of 2012, due to the large need of after school tutoring services among children in the foster care system. In general, foster care children are around two years behind in school due to a number of factors including emotional stress and an inconsistent home life. This beautiful facility is equipped with computers, educational software, and a library that gives the students a quiet place to study and do their homework. The Center also provides the children with one on one professional tutoring services which gives the children the individualized attention they need to thrive.
